New Solenoid Design
As of August 2024, Flow3 meters will have a new solenoid design. Installation will remain the same, but instead of two black wires, there is now a brown and blue. Neither are polarized, so wires can be connected to either terminal. One major change is the switch to change the solenoid from open to automatic positions and vice versa. The switch is no longer a lever to toggle, but a flat head to screw into different positions.
The solenoid is used to transmits the controller's commands to open or close the Flow3 valve. In order to remotely operate the Flow3 valve, the 3-Way selector has to be in Auto position (which connects it to the solenoid). However, to verify the Flow3 is installed correctly, the 3-way selector will need to be rotated to Open or Close for manual operation and testing. To test correct install: twist both the solenoid and the selector to Open position. Then turn on water and verify the leak detector and totalizers on the Flow3 are functioning properly and the hoses, pilot valves and other connections are not leaking. Check the controller shows water flow. Once verified, turn both the selector and solenoid to Auto.
