    (NC) No Connect

    System Alert

    PDF es:

When a valve No Connect alert occurs, the current draw for the valve solenoid is below 75mA.

    Possible Causes:

    • The number of max active stations exceeds the number of stations physically connected to the controller.
    • A ribbon cable between station PCB’s is partially disconnected or station keys are missing.
    • No field wire is connected to a specific station output.
    • The field wire terminated in the station output is not making proper contact.
    • The field wire is broken or there is a corroded or failed splice.
    • A burnt out solenoid.

When a No Connect occurs, the controller cannot operate this valve and will raise a No Connect alert on the valve. If the valve is a Normally Closed Master Valve, The system will not irrigate.

    Possible Fixes:

    • Check connections in controller and valve boxes to make sure each is seated properly.
    • Reduce the number of Max Active stations in the SETUP menu.
    • Re-insert or repair the ribbon cable and verify sufficient station keys.
    • Swap a working station wire with the problematic wire terminal. Clear the alert. Check to see if the alert follows the wire. If the alert follows the wire,  the problem is associated with the field wire. If the alert does not follow the wire, then the problem could be associated with the chassis hardware.
    • Find the wire break in the field. Using a wire tracer can help find the break.
    • If valve solenoids have a low current draw, bridge two valves to one station output.
    • Conduct an Ohms test on a field wire while the solenoid remains disconnected. If Ohms value is higher than 10 Ohms, a field wire or bad splice exists. If Ohms reading on solenoid is greater than 100, replace the solenoid.

Clearing a No Connect alert from the controller:
