During periods of water shortages or drought, or if you live in an area where water restrictions are in place, you may be limited on the days and times that you can irrigate your landscape. Your WeatherTRAK ET plus can help you manage water restrictions during these times.

Before you begin, make sure your date and time are set correctly and that you have set your water window and irrigation start time properly.

    Setting the Date and Time

    1.  Turn the Function Control knob to the SETUP position. The SET CLOCK (YEAR) screen displays.

    2.  Turn the Lower Line knob to select the current year.

    3.  Turn the Upper Line knob clockwise to select (MONTH).  Turn the Lower Line knob to select the current month.

    4.  Turn the Upper Line knob clockwise to select (DAY).  Turn the Lower Line knob to select the current day.

    5.  Turn the Upper Line knob clockwise to select (HOUR).  Turn the Lower Line knob to select the current hour.

    6.  Turn the Upper Line knob clockwise to select (MINUTE).  Turn the Lower Line knob to select the current minute.

    8.  Turn the Function Control knob to RUN to finish.

    5.  Turn the Upper Line knob to set the start time minutes.

    6.  Turn the Lower Line knob to set the minutes of the hour you want to begin watering.

    7.  To finish, turn the Function Selector knob to RUN.

    Setting the Water Window

    4.  Turn the lower line knob set the number of water window hours. The minimum number of hours you can select is 6; the maximum is 23.

    5.  Turn the Upper Line knob to select SET WINDOW MIN.

    6.  Turn the lower line knob to set the number of water window minutes, from “00” to “59”.

    7.  To finish, turn the Function Control knob to RUN.

Your next step is to choose the best method that fits the watering restrictions you are required to follow. Your options are:

    • Odd/even: enables watering to occur only on odd or even days

    • Interval: enables watering to occur at time intervals of your choosing

    • Days of week: enables watering to occur on specific days during the week

If you are restricted to watering on odd or even days of the week, perform the following steps:

    1.  Turn the MAIN knob to PROGRAM.

    2.  Turn the Upper Line knob until SELECT WATER DAYS displays.

    3.  Turn the Lower Line knob until ODD/EVEN displays.

    4.  Turn the Upper Line knob to select ODD, or, turn the lower line knob to select EVEN.

    5.  To finish, turn the MAIN knob to RUN.

    Note

If you select odd, the controller will allow watering on the last odd numbered day of the current month and the first day of the following month.

If you are restricted to watering during set time intervals, perform the following steps:

    1.  Turn the MAIN knob to PROGRAM.

    2.  Turn the Upper Line knob until SELECT WATER DAYS displays.

    3.  Turn the Lower Line knob to select Interval.

    4.  Turn the Upper Line knob once to select interval.

    5.  Turn the lower line knob to select the number of days in-between which you would like irrigation to occur. You can choose from 0-31 days. For example, if you choose 5, irrigation will occur every 5th day.

    6.  To finish, turn the MAIN knob back to RUN.

If you are restricted to watering a specific number of days per week, perform the following steps:

    1.  Turn the MAIN knob to PROGRAM.

    2.  Turn the Upper Line knob until SELECT WATER DAYS displays.

    3.  Turn the lower line knob to select Set Days.

    4.  Turn the Upper Line knob to the right to underline the value for the day you want to choose.

    5.  Turn the Lower Line knob to the right or left to select one of the following values:

    • Y”=Yes, OK to water on this day

    • -“ Non-Water Day-never water on this day.

    6.  Turn the Upper and Lower Line knobs to continue selecting each day of the week you’d like to water/not water on. When you get to the end of the week, the controller will display the next month.

    Note

Programming begins in January. You will have to make watering day selections for each day throughout the calendar year.

    1.  Repeat steps 4 through 6 for every month of the year.

    2.  To finish, turn the MAIN knob to Run.

When programming your controller to comply with strict watering restrictions, it is not unusual to have an alert. This means your WeatherTRAK ET plus controller is doing its job in making sure you know that there might not be adequate time available to meet the watering demands of your landscape. However, it is still important to comply with your local water restrictions.

Watch the tutorial on how to program the WeatherTRAK ET Plus for water restriction compliance.
