    Search and Assign Zones

How to search for and assign zones, master valves, and flow meters in BaseManager

    PDF

    Step-by-Step Guide

Accessing BaseManager and Checking Current Zone Setup

    1. Open a web browser and navigate to baselineapps.net.

    2. Log into your account using your credentials.

    3. Select the BaseManager icon on the left-hand side of the screen.

    4. On the Quickview tab, check whether any zones are currently set up. If no zones appear, you will need to assign them.

    5. Navigate to the Devices tab and click on Zones. If no zones are currently assigned, the list will be empty.

    Searching for and Assigning Zones

    1. Click on the Assign biCoder tab.

    2. Wait for the controller to complete its search for all devices connected to your wire path in the field. This process may take a few moments.

    3. Once the search is complete, the drop-down list will be populated with the unique serial numbers of all devices connected to your wire path.

    4. Select the appropriate serial number from the drop-down list for the zone you want to assign. For example, if you are assigning zone one, locate the serial number that corresponds to that zone based on your installation records.

    5. In the Description section, enter a descriptive name for the zone that will help you identify it later. For example, "northwest rotor turf, full circle" provides clear information about the location and type of irrigation heads.

    6. Repeat this process for each additional zone, selecting the correct serial number from the drop-down list and entering a descriptive name for each zone.

    7. Once you have entered all the information for all zones, press Save. This will synchronize the zone assignments and descriptions with the controller.

Understanding biCoder Serial Numbers and Stickers

biCoders come with a pre-assigned serial number and two extra stickers with that same number. It is recommended to use one sticker on a list with a description of the location and the other sticker on an as-built plan. This helps you match serial numbers to physical locations during the assignment process.

When creating your installation list, include the serial number sticker next to a description of what that zone irrigates. This list becomes your reference when assigning zones in BaseManager.

Identifying biCoder Types by Serial Number

The first letter of a biCoder serial number indicates how many zones it controls:

Single-zone biCoders: All single-zone biCoder serial numbers start with the letter D.

Two-zone biCoders: All two-zone biCoder serial numbers start with the letter E.

Four-zone biCoders: All four-zone biCoder serial numbers start with the letter Q.

Understanding Two-Zone biCoder Wiring and Serial Numbers

For two-zone biCoders, only one serial number appears on the sticker, but the device actually has two serial numbers—one for each zone.

In a typical two-zone biCoder setup, the white wire serves as the common wire. The orange wire corresponds to the serial number printed on the sticker (for example, e044641), and the yellow wire corresponds to a sequential serial number (for example, e044642).

When assigning zones, you will see both serial numbers in the drop-down list, even though only the first number appears on the physical sticker.

    Verifying Zone Assignments

After saving your zone assignments, the information will synchronize with the controller. The assignments and zone descriptions will now appear in the BaseManager zone list and on the controller itself.

The descriptions you entered (such as "northwest rotator full circle") will display every time you log into BaseManager and when you view the controller. This is particularly helpful when programming the controller or manually running a zone in the field.

    Assigning Master Valves

    1. Navigate to Devices and select Master Valve.

    2. Click on Assign Master Valves.

    3. Allow the controller to search for the master valve serial numbers connected to your wire path.

    4. Once the search is complete, select the appropriate serial number from the drop-down list. For example, select serial number d081344 for master valve one.

    5. In the description field, enter identifying information for the master valve, such as "front street master valve 2-inch" to indicate location and size.

    6. If you have additional master valves, repeat the process. Select the next serial number from the drop-down (for example, ve00002) and assign it to master valve two with an appropriate description such as "west side master valve 3 inch".

    7. Once all master valves have been assigned and described, press Save. The assignments and descriptions will synchronize with the controller.

    Assigning Flow Meters

    1. Navigate to Devices and select Flow Meters.

    2. Click on Assign Flow Meter.

    3. Select the appropriate serial number from the drop-down list.

    4. Add a description for the flow meter to help identify it.

    5. Press Save to synchronize the assignment and description with the controller.

    Assigning Zones Without BaseManager

If you do not have BaseManager set up or do not plan on connecting to BaseManager, this assignment process can be completed directly at the controller. However, naming zones and devices is not available when working directly at the controller—this functionality requires BaseManager.
