Naming Programs and Zones in BaseManager

How to label your programs and zones so they’re easy to find and manage

    PDF

    Step-by-Step Guide

Prerequisites for Naming Programs and Zones

Program and zone names are not configured at the controller itself. Instead, you configure these names through BaseManager. Before you can add names to programs and zones, your controller must meet two requirements:

    • The controller must have a network connection (cell modem, Ethernet, WiFi, or another connection method)
    • The controller must be connected to BaseManager

Once these requirements are met, you can proceed with naming programs and zones in BaseManager, and the changes will sync to the controller in real time.

    Naming Programs

    1. In BaseManager, navigate to Schedules.

    2. Locate the program you want to name and click on it to open the program details.

    3. Click the Edit button in the lower right corner to enable editing.

    4. Enter a descriptive name for the program in the name field. Consider including information such as:

    • The type of irrigation (e.g., "Tree Bubblers")
    • The location (e.g., "West Side")
    • Any other relevant identifying information

    5. Click Save to apply the changes.

The program name will be pushed to the controller in real time. Once saved, you can view the named program directly at the controller.

    Naming Zones and Other Devices

    1. In BaseManager, navigate to Devices.

    2. Select Zones from the device list. Note that this same process applies to other devices such as master valves, moisture sensors, and similar equipment.

    3. Click on the zone or device you want to name to open its details.

    4. Click the Edit button to enable editing.

    5. Enter a descriptive name for the zone. It's recommended to include detailed information about the emission device, such as:

    • The device type (e.g., "Tree Bubbler")
    • Flow rate specifications (e.g., "2 GPM")
    • Brand name (if applicable)
    • For spray heads or rotor heads: nozzle type and arc information

    6. Click Save to apply the changes.

The zone name will be saved and synced to the controller, making it easier to identify specific zones when viewing them in BaseManager or at the controller.
