Info, impact, causes, and troubleshooting a "Device Two Wire No Response" message.

Common Causes
- Damaged or corroded wire splices.
- Incorrect wire splices.
- Poor splices exposed to water in valve box.
- Damaged two-wire path.
What Happens Now?
- The biCoder was originally assigned to the controller but is no longer able to communicate with the device.
- This is because the controller can’t run or test the zone.
- Alert: Zone 13 is having an issue occur, which the zone is linked with the Serial number, E188171 which is where troubleshooting should begin.
Troubleshooting
- Turn the dial to Self Test and run a check of two-wire addresses. This eliminates any device address issues that may be present.
Note: On a BaseStation 1000 or SubStation, the two-wire address check is baked into the search function. For these controller types, run a device search then re-test the individual device.
- Pull two-wire device from the wire path and valve box and bring to controller.
- Disconnect all other two-wire from controller, connect two-wire device and perform a device test from the BaseStation test menu.
a.) If test returns a communication failure, two-wire device must be replaced.
b.) If test returns on okay status (Or open circuit solenoid if testing a valve biCoder with no connected solenoid), re-splice two-wire device into original field location per Baseline splice specification.
If you check all of the preceding steps and fail to resolve the issue, consider contacting Baseline Support. Baseline Support can be reached at support@baselinesystems.com or 866-294-5847.
