    PDF es:

In this age of information technology breaches, Baseline is committed to ensuring that the transactions between our irrigation controllers and our servers are secure. And because information security is a moving target, Baseline pledges to make continual enhancements to ensure that our products always meet the highest security standards.

    Scenarios

In early 2019, Baseline released updates that bring all our products up to the latest level of security. You can choose whether you want to update your Baseline equipment or continue operating with the current firmware. Find the scenario below that matches your situation, and review the information. The, follow the instructions in this document to install the security updates.

BaseStation 3200 or BaseStation 1000 NOT connected to central control (AppManager or BaseManager)

In this scenario, your irrigation controller is not connected to a network; therefore, you do not need enhanced security. You can continue to operate your irrigation controller without any updates. However, if you want to keep your controller up to date with the most current firmware, it’s fine to install the latest update.

BaseStation 3200 or BaseStation 1000 connected to central control (AppManager or BaseManager)

In this scenario, your irrigation controller is connected to a network and could be vulnerable to information technology breaches. You have the choice to accept the risk and continue to operate the controller in its current state or to update the controller to the enhanced security protocols. If you choose to update, continue to the section in this document specific to your controller.

BaseStation 3200 connected to central control and to a SubStation and/or a FlowStation

In this scenario, your irrigation controller and the SubStation and/or FlowStation are connected to a network and could be vulnerable to information technology breaches. You have the choice to accept the risk and continue to operate the controller and the performance components in their current state or to update to the enhanced security protocols. If you choose to update, be aware that you must update the BaseStation 3200 as well as the SubStation and/or FlowStation. Continue to the sections in this document for the BaseStation 3200, the SubStation and/or FlowStation.

Self-hosted Baseline Server with connected BaseStation 3200 or BaseStation 1000 controllers

Even though your self-hosted server is installed on your LAN, the browser-based AppManager (or BaseManager) client transfers data over an Internet connection and could be vulnerable to information technology breaches. You have the choice to accept the risk and continue to operate the server and controllers in their current state, or update to the enhanced security protocols. If you choose to update, be aware that you must update the server as well as the irrigation controllers. Contact Baseline Support for assistance.

    Update Instructions

In the sections below, find the products that you want to update, and then follow the instructions.

Download the firmware from the Support section of the Baseline website (https://www.baselinesystems.com/support.php/firmware-updates) to a USB drive, and then use the USB drive to update the controller.

    Important

If you have a BaseStation 3200 irrigation controller connected to a SubStation and/or FlowStation, all products must be on compatible firmware or they will not communicate with each other. Refer to the Firmware Version Reference for more information.

    Tip

It is best to have an empty USB drive for each firmware update that you need to apply. Label each USB drive with the firmware version number, and then copy the specific file(s) to the appropriate drive. Follow the instructions below to apply the updates in the proper order.  If you do not have multiple USB drives for multiple updates, you can use a single USB, but we recommend that you have only one firmware update on the USB drive at a time.

    1.  Check the firmware version on your BaseStation 3200, and then perform one of the following options:

    • If your BaseStation 3200 is currently running V12.34 or V16 firmware, skip to step 2.
    • If your BaseStation 3200 is currently running a version earlier than 12.30, you need to update to V12.34 first. Navigate to the Firmware Updates page in the Support section of the Baseline website, and click the Legacy Products tab. After you’ve updated to V12.34, continue with step 2 below.

    Caution

If you are making a two-step update from early V12 to V16.6, download the firmware updates onto separate USB drives. Label the drives so you know which one to apply to the controller first. If you try to download both updates to the same USB drive, one will overwrite the other, and the update will be unsuccessful.

    2.  Navigate to the Firmware Updates page in the Support section of the Baseline website, and then click the BaseStation 3200 tab.

    3.  Click to Download BaseStation 3200 firmware Version 16.6

    Caution

If you are making a two-step update from early V16.6 to V17, download the firmware updates onto separate USB drives. Label the drives so     you know which one to apply to the controller first. If you try to download both updates to the same USB drive, the update will be unsuccessful because the controller doesn’t know which files to read.

    4.  Follow the instructions in Updating the BaseStation 3200 to the V16 Firmware from a USB Drive to install the update.

    Note

The V16.6 firmware update includes bug fixes and support for the automatic security updater. The enhanced security functions are part of the V17.0 update.

    5.  Perform one of the following options:

    •  If you want your controller to be on the V16 platform, and you don’t need the enhanced security functions, you can leave the controller on this version. Your BaseStation 3200 firmware update is complete.
    •  If you want to install the enhanced security functions, continue to step 6 below.

    6.  Return to the Firmware Updates page on the Baseline website, and then click the BaseStation 3200 tab.

    7.  Click to Download BaseStation 3200 firmware Version 17.0

    8.  Follow the instructions in Updating the BaseStation 3200 to the V17 Firmware from a USB Drive to install the update.

    Note

If your BaseStation 3200 with V17.0 firmware is connected to a SubStation and/or a FlowStation, you must also install the corresponding security update on the SubStation and/or a FlowStation. Continue to the sections in this document specific to these products.
