    Overview

    WaterCompass Installer App is a mobile application designed for installers to seamlessly connect and interact with HydroPoint UltraSonix devices (FM250 and FM350) on-site. Utilizing Bluetooth technology, this app enables end users to interface directly with the devices, providing real-time verification of water flow while on location. This streamlined access enhances installation efficiency and facilitates immediate troubleshooting, ensuring optimal device performance before departing the site.

    Add a New Device

    Follow these steps to add a new device to the installer's virtual warehouse site, including creating a new monitoring point.

    Step 1: Select Site

     

    1. Select your Virtual Warehouse site from the site list.
      • Tap the play icon next to the site name to view devices.
      • Use the search icon (top right) to find a site.

     

    Step 2: Add Device 

     

    1. Tap "Add Device" in the top right corner.

    Step 3: Connect to Bluetooth

     

    1. Tap “Connect” in the bottom of the screen.
    2. Follow the on-screen Bluetooth requirements and tap “Continue.”
    3. Select the device serial number from the list of Available Device and tap"Connect".
    4. When the device is found, select NEXT to move on to configure the monitoring point.

     

     

     

    Step 4: Create a New Monitoring Point

     

    1. Select Monitor Point under General. 
    2. Tap “Create New Monitoring Point” to create a new monitoring point on your virtual warehouse site.

    Step 5: Enter Monitoring Point Details

     

    • Enter the following details:
      • Monitoring Type
      • Unit of Measure
      • Water Meter Make & Model
      • Water Meter Serial Number
      • Device Location
      • Tap "Save" in the top right corner.

     

     

     

     

    Monitor Point Name

    The name will default to “New Water Meter” until you save the device information. The system automatically generates the monitoring point name using a combination of the monitor type and the water meter or device serial number.

     

     

    FM250 Device Calibration

    Follow these steps to calibrate the FM250 device, ensuring accurate flow measurements.

    Step 1: Run Water to Verify Pulse Capture 

     

    Run Water: Locate an exterior hose bib, open a valve on the water meter's back flow preventer, or find a location inside the building such as a restroom where you can run a faucet with consistent flow for at least 1 minute. 

     

     

    1. Run water for approximately 1 minutes.
    2. Verify the sensor is collecting 

     

    Troubleshoot: If the sensor is not collecting pulses, relocate the sensor by 1 hour" on the meter register. For example, if the sensor is currently at the 3 o'clock position on the register and is not collecting pulses, move the sensor to the 4 o'clock position and try again

    Step 2: Take Base Meter Reading

     

    1. Use the WaterCompass Installer App to connect to the FM250 flow monitor via Bluetooth and begin the calibration process.

     

    Note: Before starting calibration, ensure the device is added to your virtual warehouse account and all required information is complete.

    1. Tap the camera icon to capture the required base reading. 
    1. Press the virtual button to take a clear photo of the meter register. 
    1. Enter the base reading and tap Update to save and continue. 
    • In this example, the meter reading is 518757.3

    Step 3: Flow 1 - Run Water to Capture Flow Data

     

    Run Water: Locate an exterior hose bib, open a valve on the water meter's back flow preventer, or find a location inside the building such as a restroom where you can run a faucet with consistent flow until the sensor has collected approximately 100+ pulses

    1. Enter the base reading and tap NEXT to continue.

    1. Confirm the device is calibrated.

    FM350 Device Configuration

    Step 1: Activate LTE Communication

     

    1. Press the Play button to initiate LTE Communication
      • Moves the devices from Shipping Mode to Meter Mode.
    2. Confirm the device has been connected by checking the LED status.
      • The device will initially fail PSR because it has not been configured for the pipe size and pipe material.  
      • The device is now waiting for configuration via the WaterCompass Installer App

     

    Step 2: Add the Device 

     

    1. Select your Virtual Warehouse site from the site list.
      • Tap the play icon next to the site name to view devices.
      • Tap "Add Device" in the top right corner.
      • Select “Connect” at the bottom of the screen.

     

     

    Step 3: Enable Bluetooth Connection

     

    1. Press the Bluetooth button to begin Bluetooth broadcasting.
    2. Tap "Connect" at the bottom of the screen.
    3. Follow the on-screen Bluetooth requirements and tap “Continue.”

     

     

    • Turn on Bluetooth on the flow device and select it from the list.
    •  

    Step 4: Configure the FM350 Flow Monitor

     

    1. Create a new monitoring point.
    2. Enter the following details:
      • Pipe Size
      • Pipe Material
      • Straight Run of Pipe
      • Device Location
    3. Tap "Save" in the top right corner.
    4. Confirm the configuration was successful.

     

     

    Step 5: Exit Bluetooth Mode & Initiate Cellular Call

     

    1. Press the Bluetooth button again to disconnect Bluetooth.
      • This will exit Bluetooth mode and automatically start an LTE cellular call.

     

    Step 6: Confirm Pipe Configuration Update

     

    • The red LED in the water droplet icon will change from red to green once the pipe configuration has been successfully pushed to the device via the cellular connection.

     

    Step 7: Verify Installation 

     

    1. Open the WaterCompass Installer App.
    2. Verify the Device Configuration matches the installed pipe size and pipe material.
    3. Confirm all setup details in the Verify UltraSonix Installation section.

    Verify UltraSonix Installation

    Follow these steps to verify the Ultrasonix installation, ensuring proper setup and functionality.

    Step 1: Establish LTE Connection

     

    1. Press the Play button on the device to establish a cellular connection.
    2. Confirm Green LED verification. 

    Step 2: Initiate Bluetooth broadcast

     

    1. Press the Bluetooth button on the device to establish a cellular connection.
    2. Confirm Blue LED verification. 

     

    Step 3: Connect with Installer App

     

    1. In the installer app, tap "Connect" in the top right corner.
    2. Follow the on-screen Bluetooth requirements and tap "Continue."

     

     

     

     

    Step 4: Verify Installation 

     

    1. Tap the Bluetooth icon in the top left corner.
    2. Confirm that the cellular connection shows "Pass."
    3. Ensure the signal strength is "Medium" or higher.

     

    FM250 Flow Monitor Installation Verification:

     

    1. Select the "Verify Installation" tab.
    2. Verify the following:
      • ✅ Cellular connection = passed
      • ✅ Pulses detected
      • ✅ Cellular carrier & signal strength
      • ✅ Battery voltage
      • ✅ Firmware version

    FM350 Flow Monitor Installation Verification:

     

     

    1. Select the "Verify Installation" tab.
    2. Verify the following:
      • ✅ Cellular connection passed

    Step 1: Press the Bluetooth Button on the device

     

    FM250 Flow Monitor:

     

    Hold the bluetooth button for 3 seconds to place it in discovery mode. 

     

    Both LEDs will blink yellow when the device is advertising itself for Bluetooth connectivity.

    FM350 Flow Monitor:

     

    Hold the bluetooth button for 3 seconds to place it in discovery mode. 

     

    Wireless Icon - Displays a Blue LED when the unit is in Shipping Mode and/or is advertising itself for Bluetooth connectivity.

    Step 2: Connect the Installer app

     

    1. In the installer app, tap "Connect" in the top right corner.
    2. Follow the on-screen Bluetooth requirements and tap "Continue."

    Step 3: Bluetooth Connection Requirements

     

    • Ensure your phone or tablet's Bluetooth is on.
    • Hold the device’s Bluetooth button for 3 seconds to enable discovery mode.
    • Stay within 5 feet of the device.
    • Once in discovery mode, press "Continue" to view available devices and connect.

    Step 4: Search Available Devices

     

    • Select the Serial Number of the UltraSonix device you are installing.
    • Press “Connect” to connect to the device. 

    Step 5: Connection Confirmation

     

    • Press “NEXT” to continue. 
    • Tap the Bluetooth icon in the top left corner to view the Device Values. 

    View Real-Time Flow

    Follow these steps to view real-time flow data captured by the Ultrasonix flow monitor.

    Step 2: Reset to Shipping Mode

     

    1. Select "Reset to Shipping Mode."
    • Note: The Bluetooth connection will disconnect after the reset. You’ll need to reconnect to Bluetooth once the reset is complete.
