    Understanding the Controller Audit Log

    PDF

The Audit Log Report provides a chronological record of configuration changes made to a controller and the items beneath it — what changed, who changed it, and when. Use it to review settings history, verify configuration work, or investigate unexpected behavior.

    Report Header

The top of the report displays identifying information for the report and the controller it was generated from:

Company – The organization associated with the site.

Site – The specific location the controller is installed at.

Controller – The controller ID assigned to the device.

MAC / Serial Number – Hardware identifiers for the controller.

    Type – The controller model (e.g., BL-3200S).

Version – The firmware version running on the controller at the time the report was generated.

Period – The date range the report covers.

Prepared on – The date the report was generated.

By – The AppManager user who generated the report.

    Session Groups

Changes in the report are organized by the user's login session. Each session block shows:

User name – The name of the user who was signed in.

Login time – When the session started.

Logout time – When the session ended, or "session still active" if the user was still logged in when the report was generated.

Summary count – A quick tally of how many items were Added and/or Updated during the session.

Within each session, changes are listed in the order they were made, with a timestamp marking each group of changes.

    Change Entities

Each change entry shows the affected object, the action taken, and a table listing the specific settings that changed:

Object – The item that was changed. See Audited Objects below for how each type is labeled.

Action – Whether the item was Added, Updated, or Removed.

Property – The specific setting that changed.

Previous Value – The value before the change. A dash (–) indicates the field had no prior value.

Update Value – The value after the change.

Times are shown in the controller's local time zone.

    Action Types

Every change in the report is tagged with one of three actions. These apply to all object types:

ADD Added – A new item or value was created. Previous Value will show a dash (–).

UPD Updated – An existing setting was changed. Both the previous and updated values are shown.

REM Removed – An item or value was deleted. Updated Value will show a dash (–).

    Audited Objects

Note: Only changes made by a signed-in user through the AppManager or BaseManager interface are recorded in the Audit Log. Automated system events and changes made directly on the controller are not captured.

The table below lists every object the Audit Log can record, along with the settings that may appear for each one. Not all settings will appear for every change — only the properties that were actually modified are shown.

Objects are labeled in the report as described below. Where a label includes {number}, {description}, or {serial}, those placeholders are filled in with the actual values from your configuration.
