Info, impact, causes, and troubleshooting a Water Source Empty Event Switch message.
Event Switches (also known as Event biCoders) allow non-Baseline dry contact switches to influence a baseline control system.
Common Causes
- Empty condition being enabled for Water Source 3 (WS 3).
- Event biCoder being connected to a tank level switch.
- When the water level drops, the switch changes position, triggering the empty condition.
What Happens Now?
- The event biCoder shows WS 3's cistern is empty. All watering through WS 3 has been stopped, and any zone supplied by it will not receive water until the cistern refills.
- In BaseManager → Flow → Water Source 3, we can see the empty condition. The system uses an Event biCoder P000308 (found under Sensors) to detect the tank’s water level. There is also a Wait Time typically at 60 minutes (or programmed time) should it ever be empty.
Troubleshooting: The Question to Ask: “Was the Empty Condition Intended?”
- If the goal was to stop using a WS when its level is too low, then the system is behaving correctly.
- In that case, you will need to wait at least 60 minutes (or your programed time) to allow the cistern to refill.
- Connect to an alternate water source and use water source priorities to automatically switch to a backup water source.
