A Master Valve Decoder not Found alert happens when the controller cannot communicate with the master valve decoder on the 2-wire path. The controller will not be able to open or close a master valve because the flow alert threshold has been exceeded. This alert affects scheduled irrigation, manual irrigation, learn flow, and master valve override. The controller will not be able to perform diagnostic tests for that decoder.
Possible Causes
- The master valve decoder is not programmed
- The master valve decoder is not correctly installed on the 2-wire path
- The master valve decoder is not functioning
Possible Remedies
Check any onsite documentation or as-builts to verify the master valve decoder was programmed. If that information is not available, you can view decoder programming by following the instructions below.
1. Go to Configure H20 2-wire on the controller menu.
2. Press + or - to view different decoder types.
3. Press Select when you reach the master valve number you believe is programmed to the decoder.
4. Validate the decoder information associated with that master valve matches the decoder information in the field. If the information matches, you have confirmed the master valve decoder was programmed and can move on to additional troubleshooting efforts.
Additional troubleshooting steps:
- Check to validate the master valve decoder is properly wired to the 2-wire path and that the proper DBR/Y-6 type connectors were used for all wire connections.
- Check the decoder LEDs to validate the master valve decoder is or is not getting power. The LED on the 2-wire side of the decoder (by the red and black wires) will blink every 15 seconds if it is getting at least 14VAC from the 2-wire path.
- If a group of decoders on the 2-wire path are all reporting this alert, there is a high probability of a break in the 2-wire path.
How to Clear
The Master Valve Decoder Not Found alert will automatically clear when a valve test or valve activation completes without detecting an error. The master valve can also be configured to OFF which will clear the alert. You can also press the Clear All Electrical Alerts from WeatherTRAK Central.
