There are several reasons why you may be getting a rain switch alert. Listed below are some of the most common reasons why this alert may be occurring. If it has rained recently, your rain sensor has been activated. An alert will display when this occurs. When the rain switch dries out the message will go away and irrigation will resume as previously programmed.

    1.  If there is no jumper or rain sensor connected to the rain sensor ports on your controller, you will get an alert. Rain switches work on closed circuits. When the jumper is removed, an open circuit is created, causing the alert. To clear the alert, try setting all of your stations to “None” for usable rainfall. You can do this in the PROGRAMMING menu.

    2.  Your rain switch could be installed incorrectly. Review the documentation that came with your rain switch to ensure correct installation

    3.  You could have a faulty rain switch. Disconnect your unit from the power source. Remove the rain switch wires and insert a jumper. If RAIN SWITCH does not display, you have a faulty rain switch. Contact the manufacturer of the rain switch for advice on replacement.

    4.  Look for signs of damage from insects, snails, or slugs. Also, look for damage to your long ribbon cable. If damaged, your unit is no longer under warranty and may need replacing.

    5.  Check your rain switch jumper. If you don’t have a rain switch, make sure a jumper is installed in the rain switch terminal slots.
