Step-by-Step Guide
Enable Location Permissions on Your Device
Before you can use the geolocate function, you need to allow your phone and web browser to access your location.
For iOS devices:
1. Open Settings on your device.
2. Navigate to Privacy settings.
3. Find the browser you're using for App Manager (such as Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc.).
4. Adjust the privacy settings to allow location access.
For Android devices:
The settings process will be similar to iOS. Locate your browser's location permissions in your device settings and enable them.
Access the Geolocate Function
1. Log into App Manager.
2. Select Mobile Access.
You can geolocate any device that has a unique BaseStation serial number. This includes zones, flow meters, pressure sensors, or even custom markers.
Geolocate Individual Zones at Valve Boxes
This method involves walking to each valve box and marking its precise location.
1. Select the zone you want to geolocate (for example, zone 5).
2. Wait a moment or two for the GPS to pick up your location. You'll see the accuracy displayed on screen (for example, "19 feet").
3. Walk over to the valve box where the zone is located.
4. Press Mark.
When you press mark, several things happen: the latitude and longitude coordinates show up briefly on the Mobile Access screen, and at the same time, the pin for that zone appears on the BaseManager map.
5. To continue to the next zone, use the arrows to advance from one zone to the next (for example, from zone 5 to zone 6).
6. Walk to the next valve box location and press Mark again.
7. Repeat this process for each zone you want to geolocate.
Geolocate Zones by General Irrigation Area
If your GPS reception isn't accurate enough to mark valve boxes precisely, or if you want a faster method, you can mark the general area that each zone irrigates instead of the exact valve box location.
1. Walk to the general area irrigated by the zone (for example, zone 10).
2. Press Mark while standing in that general area, rather than at the valve box.
3. Walk to the general area irrigated by the next zone (for example, zone 11) and mark that location.
4. Continue this process for each zone.
This method is even quicker than pinpointing valve boxes since you don't need to locate the exact valve box position.
Adjust Pin Locations in BaseManager
After using the geolocate function, you can fine-tune the location of pins in BaseManager.
1. Open your BaseManager map.
2. Make sure you're in Edit mode.
3. Click on the icon you want to move.
4. Drag it to the appropriate location.
This adjustment capability is particularly useful when you've used the general area method, allowing you to position pins exactly where you want them for easier site management.
