Adjusting BaseManager Map Views
Video originally published June 2020.
Adjusting the Company View Map
1. Log into the company and controller that you want to adjust in your BaseManager account.
2. Notice that the map displays at the default world view, which is not particularly helpful for managing your controller.
3. Select Company View and click Edit in the lower right-hand corner.
4. Use your mouse or the plus and minus icons to zoom in to the appropriate level. Set your zoom level to include all relevant locations for your company. For example, if your company has sites in multiple cities, zoom to a level that shows all of those cities in view.
5. Once you are satisfied with the map view, click Save.
Adjusting the Current Site Map
1. While on Current Site, select Edit.
2. Zoom into the level that you want, just as you did for the Company View.
3. Zoom to show the entire site area. This is particularly helpful when your current site has multiple controllers. For example, if your site is an airport with multiple controllers, zoom to show the entire airport level.
4. Once you are happy with the zoom level, click Save.
Adjusting the Current Controller Map
1. Navigate to the Current Controller level.
2. Select Edit.
3. Zoom to show the controller and all the landscape area irrigated by that controller. For example, if the controller is located on one side of a larger site, zoom to show that specific area and all associated irrigation zones.
4. Click Save when you are satisfied with the view.
Navigating Between Map Views
After configuring your map views, you can navigate between the three levels:
Company View shows the largest area, covering all company locations.
Current Site shows a closer view of the specific site.
Current Controller shows the closest view, focused on the individual controller and its irrigation area.
Changing Map Display Type
1. If the satellite view does not work well for a particular map level, you can change the display type.
2. Navigate to the map view you want to change (for example, Company View).
3. Select Edit.
4. Change the view from satellite to road view.
5. Click Save.
You can set different display types for each map level. For example, you might use road maps for the Company View, satellite view for the Current Site, and satellite view for the Current Controller.
Adding a Controller Marker to the Map
1. Navigate to the Current Controller map view.
2. Select Edit.
3. Go to Markers and then select Controllers.
4. Click the plus sign next to the controller you want to add to the map.
5. On the map, click where you want to place the controller icon.
6. If you are not satisfied with the icon placement, click and drag it to the correct location.
7. Click Save.
Using Controller Markers for Navigation
Once you have added a controller marker to your map, you can use it for quick navigation:
When viewing the Current Site map with the controller marker visible, click on the controller marker to drop down to the Current Controller view.
You can also use the marker to navigate back up to the Company View.
Add Custom Markers to BaseManager Maps
Video originally published June 2020.
Understanding Custom Markers
Zone decoders and all other baseline decoders have unique serial numbers, but sometimes you need to show items on your map that do not have baseline serial numbers. For those items, you can create custom markers in BaseManager. Custom markers allow you to track and document field equipment and infrastructure that isn't directly connected to the wirepath.
Creating Your First Custom Marker
1. Open BaseManager and navigate to the Current Controller View.
2. Click Edit to enter edit mode.
3. Scroll down to the Markers section until you find Custom Markers.
4. Select Create a Custom Marker.
5. Enter a label for your marker. For example, use "RC" for a rain catchment tank.
6. Pick a color for the marker to help visually distinguish it on the map.
7. Add a description of the item. For a rain catchment tank, include details such as the size of the catchment.
8. Use the Notes field to record important information about the item. Notes are beneficial for anything you want to know about the item that's out in the field, such as when the tank was last serviced or maintenance history.
Placing the Custom Marker on the Map
1. Click the plus sign to begin placing the marker.
2. Click on the map at the location where you want your custom marker to appear.
3. Once you're happy with the placement, press Save.
Viewing Custom Marker Information
Custom markers function differently from zone markers. While zone markers can be clicked for manual operations and testing, custom markers don't have that same operation capability since they aren't connected to the wirepath.
When you click on a custom marker, you cannot operate it, but you can view information about it. The marker will display details such as the size of the catchment and the notes about when it was last serviced.
Creating Additional Custom Markers with URLs
1. Create another custom marker by selecting Create a Custom Marker again.
2. Label the marker. For example, use "RP" for a reduced pressure assembly.
3. Choose a color, or use the default black color.
4. In the description, specify the equipment details, such as "3 inch FEBCO reduce pressure assembly."
5. Add a URL in the appropriate field. For example, include the URL for the manufacturer's parts catalog.
6. Add any relevant notes about the equipment.
7. Click the plus sign to add the icon to the map.
8. Click on the map where you want to place the marker.
9. Press Save to save the map.
After saving, the custom marker becomes clickable. When you click on it, the URL you added becomes a clickable link that takes you directly to the manufacturer's repair parts catalog or other web resource you specified.
Add Zone Markers To BaseManager Maps
Video originally published June 2020.
Navigate to the Controller View
1. Log into the BaseManager account you want to work on.
2. Set up the current company view, current site view, and current controller view if you haven't already done so.
3. Navigate to the current controller view.
4. Click Edit.
Access Zone Markers
1. Go to Markers.
2. Select Zone Markers.
The list of zones displayed here was populated during the search and assign process. Naming your zones beforehand makes this process easier to manage.
Add Zone Markers to the Map
1. Click the plus sign next to the zone you want to add to the map.
2. Mouse over the area of the map where you want to place the zone icon.
3. Click on that location to place the icon.
Adjust Marker Placement
You may need to zoom in to get a better idea of where you should place your marker. Keep in mind that whatever zoom level you save the map at will be the default zoom level the next time you view it.
If you aren't completely satisfied with where you initially placed the marker, you can click on it and drag it to exactly where you want it.
Complete the Process
1. Repeat the marker placement process for all the zones you want to add to the map.
2. When you're done adding markers, be sure to click Save.
Use Zone Markers for Operations
Once you have a map with markers, you can click on any marker to access several operations directly from the map view:
Manually run the zone – You can run the selected zone for five minutes.
Test the zone – You can perform a zone test.
Learn flow – You can initiate the learn flow process for that zone.
All of these operations are accessible directly from the map view without needing to navigate to other screens.
