Step-by-Step Guide
There are three methods available for searching and assigning zones and other devices in your HydroPoint system. You can search and assign directly at the controller, through BaseManager, or using the Live View feature. Each method accomplishes the same task, but offers different advantages depending on your situation.
Searching and Assigning at the Controller
This method works well for standalone controllers not connected to BaseManager, or when you're physically present at the site during installation.
1. Rotate the controller dial to the Assign position.
2. Select the device type you want to search for and assign.
The available options include:
- Zones
- Master valves
- Pump start
- Soil moisture sensors
- Other connected devices
3. Press Enter to open the selected device category (for example, zones).
4. With the Search column highlighted, press Enter to begin searching. The controller will check the two-wire path or R board for any devices that have not been assigned.
5. Once the search completes, navigate to the next column using the controller buttons. Use the plus and minus buttons to scroll through and locate any unassigned devices.
6. To assign a device, highlight the device ID (such as VA0001) in the left column and the desired zone number (such as zone 14) in the right column, then press Enter. The device ID will move from the left column to the right column, confirming the assignment.
Searching and Assigning Through BaseManager
This method allows you to search and assign devices remotely without traveling to the controller site, provided your controller is connected to BaseManager.
1. Log in to BaseManager using your unique username and password.
2. Navigate to the Devices tab from the main navigation menu.
3. Select the device type you want to work with from the left column. For zones, click on Zones. The zone details section will display all zones that have already been assigned and named.
4. Click Assign biCoder. BaseManager will communicate with the controller and retrieve all biCoders that are either assigned or connected to the two-wire path. Wait for this process to complete.
5. After the search completes, click Assign Devices to view unassigned zones.
6. Scroll through the zone list to find zones that are not yet assigned. Click on the dropdown menu for an unassigned zone to view available device IDs.
7. Select the appropriate device ID (such as VA0002) from the dropdown to assign it to the zone.
8. Optionally, rename the zone by entering a descriptive name in the zone name field (for example, "Next to the Front Entry").
9. Click Save to complete the assignment. The changes will be pushed to the controller and will appear at the controller once it syncs.
Searching and Assigning Using Live View
Live View provides a third option that works well if you don't have a paid BaseManager account. This method simulates standing at the controller by using virtual button pushes.
1. Access Live View from your BaseManager interface.
2. Click on the Assign tab and wait for it to open.
3. Click Enter to open the zones menu (or whichever device type you're working with).
4. With Search highlighted, click Enter to search the wire path for unassigned devices. Wait for the search to complete.
5. Once the search finishes, follow the same assignment process as you would at the physical controller, using the virtual buttons to navigate and select devices and zones.
