    Step-by-Step Guide

    Understanding Automatic and Manual Backups

Every controller connected to BaseManager receives an automatic weekly backup without any action required on your part.

However, manual backups are recommended in specific situations:

    • When performing a major change to your controller or replacing controller components, manually back up everything before proceeding. Keep a USB drive in your truck so you can create backups whenever needed.
    • Controllers that are not connected to BaseManager should be backed up using a USB drive on a regular basis to ensure your programming and configuration data is protected.

Backing Up at the Controller Using a USB Drive

    1. Press the System Setup key located in the lower left corner of the controller.

    2. Navigate to Backup and Restore and press OK.

    3. Select USB Backup and press OK. The controller will prompt you to insert a USB drive

🚨(USB must be empty/blank in order to complete back up)

    4. Open the controller door. On the back of the display panel, insert a USB drive into the socket.

    5. Close the panel. You will see that backup slots one through five are empty, with backup one highlighted.

    6. Press OK to begin the backup process. Wait a moment for the backup to complete. The screen will display the backup with a timestamp showing the date and time it was created.

    7. When complete, press Run to return to the main screen.

Restoring from a USB Drive at the Controller

    1. Press the System Setup key.

    2. Navigate to Backup and Restore and press OK.

    3. Select USB Restore. As long as the USB drive is plugged in, you can choose from any available restore points.

    4. Highlight the backup you want to restore (for example, backup number one) and press OK.

    5. Choose your restore option:

    • Restore Programs – restores only the programming data
    • Restore Programs and Configuration (Restore All) – restores both programming and configuration settings

    6. Select your preferred option and press OK. The restore process will complete.

Backing Up Through BaseManager (Remote Backup)

If your controller is connected to a network and BaseManager, you can create a backup remotely. This method is useful if you forgot to bring a USB drive to the controller site.

    1. Open a web browser and navigate to baselineapps.net.

    2. Log in with your username and secure password.

    3. Instead of opening BaseManager, scroll down and open Admin Tools.

    4. Since you are working on a BaseStation 1000, click on Manage BaseStation 1000s.

    5. If you have multiple controllers, select the controller you want to back up from the list by clicking on it.

    6. Scroll down to find Backup Programming.

    7. Click the blue Backup button to start the backup process. The button will turn blue again when the backup is complete.

Restoring Through Admin Tools (Remote Restore)

    1. Follow steps 1 through 5 from the backup process above to navigate to your controller in Admin Tools.

    2. Click on the drop-down menu to view available restore points.

    3. Select the restore point you want to use.

    4. Click Restore to complete the restoration process.
