    Step-by-Step Guide

    Understanding the Assign Screen Layout

When you turn the dial to the Assign position, the screen displays two main areas. On the left side, you'll see a column with Search highlighted at the top, along with Help and Unassign options below it. On the right side, you'll see a list of zone numbers with boxes containing dashes, which indicate that nothing has been assigned to those zones yet.

Each BiCoder installed in the field has a unique serial number that serves as its identifier. The BaseStation 3200 uses these serial numbers to locate and manage BiCoders on the two-wire path.

Searching for BiCoders on the Two-Wire Path

    1. With Search highlighted on the screen, press Enter.

    2. The controller will search the entire two-wire path for all BiCoders that are pre-installed and bring them back into a list displayed on the left side of the screen.

    3. Wait for the controller to complete the search process. You'll see the controller working through this automatically.

    4. Once the search is complete, the left column will populate with a list of BiCoder serial numbers that were found on the two-wire path.

Use the Plus and Minus keys to move up and down through the list of unassigned BiCoders. This allows you to browse through all the BiCoders that were discovered during the search.

    Assigning BiCoders to Zones

    1. Use the Plus and Minus keys to highlight the BiCoder serial number you want to assign from the list on the left.

    2. Use the Next button to move through the zone column on the right and select the zone number you want to assign the BiCoder to.

    3. With both the BiCoder serial number and the desired zone number highlighted, press Enter.

    4. The controller will quickly complete the assignment. The BiCoder serial number will be removed from the unassigned list on the left and will now appear assigned to the selected zone number on the right.

The screen provides helpful on-screen prompts to remind you which buttons to press during the assignment process.

    Understanding Zone Status Information

At the bottom of the screen, you'll see status information for each assigned BiCoder. A status of OK indicates that the BiCoder is functioning properly, has a solenoid connected, and the controller detected the expected amperage from the solenoid during testing (for example, 0.19 amps).

If the solenoid has an open circuit or a short circuit, the status display will show that condition instead of OK, alerting you to potential wiring or solenoid issues.
