    Troubleshooting and Clearing Flow Alerts

    Flow alerts are viewed in the Alerts menu. If you have an alert, you will see a two-letter abbreviation (MB, HF, NF, LK, EX).  A double dash (--) means that there is not an alert for the station you are viewing.

    1.  To view flow alerts, turn the Main knob to the Alerts menu.  

    2.  Turn the UPPER KNOB until VIEW FLOW STATUS displays.

    3.  Turn the LOWER KNOB to view.

    4.  Turn the UPPER KNOB to view any station flow alerts. If an alert exists, it will be displayed on this View Flow Status screen. A double dash -- means there are no flow issues.

    5.  To see where additional flow alerts may have occurred, turn the UPPER KNOB to view subsequent stations.



    Flow Alert Definitions

    Your WeatherTRAK ET Pro2 can continuously monitor for the following flow conditions:

    • MB (Mainline Break) - A Mainline Break alert generally means a mainline pipe or fitting has failed.

    • HF (Station High Flow) - A station High Flow alert happens when a sprinkler head or lateral pipe is broken, or the station high flow threshold (SHFT) is too low.

    • NF (No Flow) - A No Flow alert happens when an operating station is not recording any flow.

    • LK (Leak Detect) - A Leak Detect alert happens when flow is observed during non-scheduled irrigation or during scheduled irrigation when no irrigation is operating.

    • EX (Extended Leak Detect) - An Extended Leak Detect is when a flow meter detects a leak that exceeds a user-defined delay period with a normally open master as part of the irrigation program.



    Troubleshooting and Clearing Flow Alerts


    Mainline Break (MB)

    If a mainline break has occurred, flow has exceeded the mainline break threshold and the controller will close the station valves. This can happen when the mainline pipe or fitting has failed. Options for remedy:

    1.  Locate and fix the break.

    2.  Locate and replace the broken fitting.


    To clear a Mainline Break from the controller AFTER troubleshooting:

    1.  Turn the MAIN KNOB to the ALERTS menu.

    2.  Turn the UPPER KNOB to view flow status.

    3.  Press the * button to clear all flow alerts.


    To clear a Mainline Break remotely AFTER troubleshooting:

    1.  Go to Manage Controller page in WeatherTRAK.net

    2.  Select Clear Flow and Electrical Alerts.



    Station High Flow (HF)

    If a station high flow has occurred, the flow has exceeded the station high flow threshold. The controller stops irrigation on the station that was irrigating and raises the alert. It will then move on to the next station in the scheduled sequence. This can happen when a sprinkler head or lateral pipe is broken. Options for remedy:

    1.  Locate and replace the broken sprinkler heads.

    2.  Repair the broken lateral pipe.

    3.  Confirm the station high flow setting is correct.


    To clear a Station High Flow alert from the controller AFTER troubleshooting:

    1.  Turn the MAIN KNOB to the ALERTS menu.

    2.  Turn the UPPER KNOB to view flow status.

    3.  Press the * button to clear all flow alerts.


    To clear a Station High Flow alert remotely AFTER troubleshooting:

    1.  Go to Manage Controller page in WeatherTRAK.net

    2.  Select Clear Flow and Electrical Alerts.



    No Flow (NF)

    A no flow alert means that the flow has dropped below the no flow threshold. This can happen when:

    • The solenoid plunger is not lifting to allow the valve to open
    • The master valve is not opening if in use
    • The pump start is not being activated
    • A gate valve or isolation valve in the mainline has been closed

    When this type of alert occurs, the controller will stop irrigation on the station raise a no flow alert. It will then move onto the next station in the scheduled sequence. If three consecutive stations have no flow alerts, the controller stops irrigation. To remedy:

    1.  Bleed the corresponding valve manually to determine if water pressure exists.

    2.  Verify the pump start is operating correctly.

    3.  Locate and open any closed gate valves.


    To clear a No Flow alert from the controller AFTER troubleshooting:

    1.  Turn the MAIN KNOB to the ALERTS menu.

    2.  Turn the UPPER KNOB to view flow status.

    3.  Press the * button to clear all flow alerts.


    To clear a No Flow alert remotely AFTER troubleshooting:

    1.  Go to Manage Controller page in WeatherTRAK.net.

    2.  Select Clear Flow and Electrical Alerts.



    Extended Leak (EX)

    An extended leak occurs when flow has exceeded the leak detect threshold continuously for the extended leak period. This can happen when:

    • A quick coupler or hose bib is being used
    • A valve is stuck open
    • A mainline fitting is broken.

    When this type of alert occurs, the controller closes a normally open master valve and raises an extended leak alert. The next irrigation will start as scheduled, but the alert will not be cleared automatically. To remedy:

    1.  Repair any valves, quick couplers, or hose bibs.

    2.  Prevent the unauthorized use of a quick coupler or hose bib.


    To clear an Extended Leak alert from the controller AFTER troubleshooting:

    1.  Turn the MAIN KNOB to the ALERTS menu.

    2.  Turn the UPPER KNOB to view flow status.

    3.  Press the * button to clear all flow alerts.


    To clear an Extended Leak alert remotely AFTER troubleshooting:

    1.  Go to Manage Controller page in WeatherTRAK.net

    2.  Select Clear Flow and Electrical Alerts.



    Leak (LK)

    A Leak alert occurs when the flow has exceeded the Leak Detect Threshold for the first leak delay period. This can happen when:

    • A quick coupler or hose bib is being used
    • A valve is not closing completely and is leaking
    • A mainline fitting has a crack and is leaking
    • A mainline pipe has developed a slow leak
    • A quick coupler is stuck partially open or a hose bib has been left open

    This type of alert is for informational purposes. No action will be taken on the controller. To remedy:

    1.  Repair any valves, quick couplers, or hose bibs.

    2.  Prevent the unauthorized use of a quick coupler of hose bib.


    To clear a Leak alert from the controller AFTER troubleshooting:

    1.  Turn the MAIN KNOB to the ALERTS menu.

    2.  Turn the UPPER KNOB to view flow status.

    3.  Press the * button to clear all flow alerts.


    To clear a Leak alert remotely AFTER troubleshooting:

    1.  Go to Manage Controller page in WeatherTRAK.net

    2.  Select Clear Flow and Electrical Alerts.
