Device Confirmation: The Activator App will provide confirmation the FM200 flow monitor was successfully found in the system.

    • Select Next to progress to the Main Menu

Possible Error 1: Device Not Found

If the Activator App is unable to find the device, please verify the device serial number was input correctly.

    Possible Error 2: Device Lock

The device may be locked. This is a safety measure to preserve sensor calibration on deployed devices. Please call contractor support if you are working with a locked device. Contractor support will quickly unlock the device while you are onsite.

Step 3: Navigating the Main Menu

The main menu will provide 4 options to choose from:

    • Signal Test
    • Initialization
    • FM200 Status
    • Support

Note: The back arrow located in the top left corner of the main menu will return you to the previous screen.

    Signal Test

Completing a signal test will confirm the flow monitors ability to communicate.

    • Select Signal Test from the Main Menu.
    • Select Signal Test from the pop- up dialog box to begin the signal test

    • Follow the on-screen steps to initiate the Signal Test.
    • Select Done once complete to return to the Activator main menu.

    Initialization

Device initialization begins the sensor pairing process. Sensor pairing is required to calibrate the flow monitor.

    • Select Initialization from the main menu.
    • Select Initialize Device from the secondary menu once it appears.

Note: Initialize the FM200 flow monitor during a new installation or relocating the sensor on the register only. DO NOT initialize the device during battery replacement.

    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete initialization steps.
    • Select Done to return to the Activator main menu.

    FM200 Status

The FM200 Status page provides the status of the signal test and device initialization, as well as battery and firmware information.

Check the status of the following:

    • Battery Level
    • Firmware
    • Antenna Signal
    • Sensor Pairing

    1. Back Button – return to the main menu.
    2. Updated – last time the device communicated. Includes the date, time, and time zone.
    3. Refresh – IMPORTANT – Be sure to refresh the status after each magnet swipe.

    Status Detail:

A green check mark signifies the following for each status:

Battery Level – strong battery voltage.

Firmware Version – confirms the device has approved FW.

Antenna Signal – confirms the device is successfully communicating.

Sensor Pairing – confirms sensor pairing is complete. Provides pulse count in between magnet swipes.

If you have a red X next to any fields, please reference Troubleshooting Best Practices in Appendix below. The FM200 installation and service manual will also provide Troubleshooting Best Practices. If you are unable to overcome the problem while onsite, contact the HydroPoint Professional Services team by calling 707-285-3250, then Choose Option 3 for WaterCompass Installation Support.

    Troubleshooting Best Practices:

You can utilize the FM200 Activator App to troubleshoot basic flow monitor issues in the field.

    No Communication

The Activator will provide device communication information. The following areas of the Activator will assist you troubleshooting communication issues in the field.

    • Signal Test – use the Signal Test option to test and confirm the device is communicating when relocating or replacing the antenna.
    • FM200 Status – check the FM200 Status page to verify the last time the device communicated. Refresh the page in between each magnet swipe to receive the most up to date communication information.
    • Support – check the ‘Antenna Signal’ field under support. The Signal strength should be >10. If the antenna signal is <5, relocate the antenna to increase signal strength.

    Low/Dead Battery

Troubleshooting the batteries during the installation or battery replacement process, the Activator will provide guidance on the battery status.

    • FM200 Status – check the FM200 status page to verify the battery has a green check mark.
    • FM200 Status – verify the flow monitor is communicating. Verify the date and time stamp matches the last time you swiped the magnet.
    • FM200 Status – verify the flow monitor is collecting pulses. Check the sensor pairing field to confirm the number of pulses registered since the last time you swiped the magnet. If the sensor has not registered pulses, verify the water meter is pushing water, swipe the magnet again, and refresh the Status page.

    No Pulses

There are several reasons the sensors may not collect pulses.

    • Water Meter – verify water pushing water.
    • Water Meter – verify the water meter register is advancing w/ flow.
