Scenarios
In early 2019, Baseline released updates that bring all our products up to the latest level of security. You can choose whether you want to update your Baseline equipment or continue operating with the current firmware. Find the scenario below that matches your situation, and review the information. The, follow the instructions in this document to install the security updates.
BaseStation 3200 or BaseStation 1000 NOT connected to central control (AppManager or BaseManager)
In this scenario, your irrigation controller is not connected to a network; therefore, you do not need enhanced security. You can continue to operate your irrigation controller without any updates. However, if you want to keep your controller up to date with the most current firmware, it’s fine to install the latest update.
BaseStation 3200 or BaseStation 1000 connected to central control (AppManager or BaseManager)
In this scenario, your irrigation controller is connected to a network and could be vulnerable to information technology breaches. You have the choice to accept the risk and continue to operate the controller in its current state or to update the controller to the enhanced security protocols. If you choose to update, continue to the section in this document specific to your controller.
BaseStation 3200 connected to central control and to a SubStation and/or a FlowStation
In this scenario, your irrigation controller and the SubStation and/or FlowStation are connected to a network and could be vulnerable to information technology breaches. You have the choice to accept the risk and continue to operate the controller and the performance components in their current state or to update to the enhanced security protocols. If you choose to update, be aware that you must update the BaseStation 3200 as well as the SubStation and/or FlowStation. Continue to the sections in this document for the BaseStation 3200, the SubStation and/or FlowStation.
Self-hosted Baseline Server with connected BaseStation 3200 or BaseStation 1000 controllers
Even though your self-hosted server is installed on your LAN, the browser-based AppManager (or BaseManager) client transfers data over an Internet connection and could be vulnerable to information technology breaches. You have the choice to accept the risk and continue to operate the server and controllers in their current state, or update to the enhanced security protocols. If you choose to update, be aware that you must update the server as well as the irrigation controllers. Contact Baseline Support for assistance.
Update Instructions
In the sections below, find the products that you want to update, and then follow the instructions.
Download the firmware from the Support section of the Baseline website (https://www.baselinesystems.com/support.php/firmware-updates) to a USB drive, and then use the USB drive to update the controller.
BaseStation 3200 Irrigation Controller
1. Check the firmware version on your BaseStation 3200, and then perform one of the following options:
- If your BaseStation 3200 is currently running V12.34 or V16 firmware, skip to step 2.
- If your BaseStation 3200 is currently running a version earlier than 12.30, you need to update to V12.34 first. Navigate to the Firmware Updates page in the Support section of the Baseline website, and click the Legacy Products tab. After you’ve updated to V12.34, continue with step 2 below.
2. Navigate to the Firmware Updates page in the Support section of the Baseline website, and then click the BaseStation 3200 tab.
3. Click to Download BaseStation 3200 firmware Version 16.6
4. Follow the instructions in Updating the BaseStation 3200 to the V16 Firmware from a USB Drive to install the update.
5. Perform one of the following options:
- If you want your controller to be on the V16 platform, and you don’t need the enhanced security functions, you can leave the controller on this version. Your BaseStation 3200 firmware update is complete.

If you want to install the enhanced security functions, continue to step 6 below.
6. Return to the Firmware Updates page on the Baseline website, and then click the BaseStation 3200 tab.
7. Click to Download BaseStation 3200 firmware Version 17.0
8. Follow the instructions in Updating the BaseStation 3200 to the V17 Firmware from a USB Drive to install the update.
BaseStation 1000 Irrigation Controller
1. Navigate to the Firmware Updates page in the Support section of the Baseline website, and then click the BaseStation 1000 tab.
2. Click to Download the BaseStation 1000 firmware Version 1.21.
3. Follow the instructions in Updating the BaseStation 1000 Firmware from a USB Drive to install the update.
SubStation
1. Navigate to the Firmware Updates page in the Support section of the Baseline website, and then click the SubStation tab.
2. Click to Download the SubStation firmware Version 2.0
3. Follow the instructions in Updating the SubStation Firmware from a USB Drive to install the update.
FlowStation
1. Navigate to the Firmware Updates page in the Support section of the Baseline website, and then click the FlowStation tab.
2. Click to Download the FlowStation firmware Version 3.0
3. Follow the instructions in Updating the FlowStation Firmware from a USB Drive to install the update.
