    Reporting & Exports

How to export raw data, generate PDF reports, and save filtered views in WaterCompass.net

    PDF

WaterCompass.net provides two ways to export your data. You can export raw consumption data from the Monitoring Points page for detailed analysis in Excel, or generate visually rich PDF reports from the Usage, Alert Notifications, Cooling Towers, and Analytics dashboards. The dashboard pages also allow you to save and reuse filtered views for quick access to the data you check most often.

Exporting Raw Data from Monitoring Points

The Monitoring Points page allows you to export raw consumption data for any combination of sites, time periods, and data types. This is ideal for detailed analysis, record-keeping, or importing data into external tools. Exports are available in Excel (.xlsx) and PDF formats.

    How to Export Raw Data

    1. Navigate to the Monitoring Points page from the left sidebar menu.
    2. Scroll down to the Monitoring Point Data Export Options section at the bottom of the page.
    3. Select a Time Period from the dropdown (e.g., This Month, Previous Month, or a custom range).
    4. Select the Site you want to export data for using the Select Site dropdown.
    5. Choose a Data Type from the Select Data Type dropdown to specify the kind of data to include.
    6. Choose a Water Meter from the Select Water Meter dropdown to narrow the export to a specific meter, or leave it to include all meters for the selected site.
    7. Click the Excel icon to download the data as an .xlsx file, or click the PDF icon to download a formatted PDF.

Tip: The Excel export is best for data you plan to manipulate, filter, or chart in a spreadsheet. The PDF export is useful for sharing a formatted snapshot with stakeholders who do not need to edit the data.

    Generating Dashboard Reports

The Usage, Alert Notifications, Cooling Towers, and Analytics pages each display interactive dashboards with charts, graphs, and summary data. You can export these dashboards as visually rich PDF reports that capture the data exactly as it appears on screen, including all charts and filtered views.

How to Export a Dashboard as PDF

    1. Navigate to the dashboard page you want to export (Usage, Alert Notifications, Cooling Towers, or Analytics).
    2. Use the available filters (Site Groups, Sites, Time Period, Zoom, etc.) to configure the dashboard to display the data you want to capture.
    3. Click PDF Export in the top-right corner of the page.
    4. The PDF will generate and download automatically, containing all visible charts, graphs, and summary data as displayed on the dashboard.

    Saving and Reusing Filtered View

If you frequently check the same filtered data, you can save your current filter configuration as a named view and return to it at any time. This feature is available on the Usage, Alert Notifications, and Cooling Towers pages.

    How to Save a View

    1. Navigate to the dashboard page (Usage, Alert Notifications, or Cooling Towers).
    2. Configure your filters (Site Groups, Sites, Time Period, Zoom, Metric, etc.) to display the data you want to save.
    3. Click Save View in the top-right corner of the page.
    4. Enter a descriptive name for the view (e.g., "Main Campus — Monthly Usage" or "Building A — Alert History").
    5. Click Save to store the view.

How to Access a Saved View

    1. Navigate to the dashboard page where the view was saved.
    2. Click My Views in the top-right corner of the page.
    3. Select the saved view from the list. The dashboard will update to reflect the saved filter configuration.

Tip: Saved views are a great way to streamline your daily or weekly data review. Save a view for each site or metric you monitor regularly, then use My Views to switch between them without reconfiguring filters each time.

    Analytics Page

The Interactive Analytics page provides advanced visualizations including 12-month usage trends, month-by-day breakdowns, day-by-hour patterns, target hour analysis, and a usage heatmap. You can interact with the charts directly to drill into specific time periods. The Analytics page supports PDF Export for generating reports, but does not include the Save View or My Views features. To capture a specific analytics view, configure your filters and export the PDF immediately.
