    Configuring Zones

How to set up zone settings so your system waters correctly and efficiently

    PDF

    Step-by-Step Guide

Before configuring zones, you must first assign your bike holders to zone numbers. This process is covered in a separate article.

    Accessing the Zone Configuration Screen

    1. Turn the dial to the Zones position.

The zone configuration screen displays the following information:

    • The program number appears in the upper left-hand corner
    • The zone number being configured
    • Configuration boxes for various zone settings

    Changing the Program Assignment

    1. Press the Previous key.

    2. Press Plus or Minus to select the desired program.

A zone is assigned to a program by enabling it and giving it a run time.

Selecting a Different Zone to Configure

    1. Press Plus or Minus to change the zone number you are configuring.

    Setting the Zone Mode

The Zone Mode box offers multiple options for how the zone operates.

    Timed Mode

The Timed mode functions like a standard irrigation timer where you assign a run time to the zone.

    Primary Zone Mode

A primary zone allows you to assign moisture sensors to that zone and link other zones to it. Linked zones will reflect the watering behavior of the primary zone.

    1. In the Zone Mode box, press the Plus key to change the mode to Primary.

    2. Press Enter to confirm the change.

The zone is now configured as a primary zone.

    Setting the Run Time

    1. Press the Next key to move down to the run time setting.

    2. Press Plus or Minus to adjust the run time to the desired duration (for example, 10 minutes).

    Configuring Cycle and Soak Times

    1. Press the Next key to move to the cycle time setting.

    2. Press Plus or Minus to set the cycle time (for example, 5 minutes for a zone with a 10-minute run time).

    3. Press the Next key to move to the soak time setting.

    4. Press Plus or Minus to set the soak time to your desired duration (for example, 15 minutes).

You can configure these settings to match your specific irrigation needs.

    Entering Design Flow Manually

If you know the design flow and are not using a flow meter, you can manually enter the design flow value.

    1. Press the Next key to navigate to the design flow field.

    2. Press Plus or Minus to enter the design flow value.

    Disabling a Zone

You can disable a zone without losing any of its settings or program assignments. This is useful when you need to temporarily take a zone out of service, such as when a sprinkler head is broken.

    1. Press the Next key to navigate down to the disable zone option.

    2. Press Plus or Minus to disable the zone.

All zone settings and program assignments are preserved when the zone is disabled.

    Accessing On-Screen Help

    1. Press the Next key to highlight the Help option in blue.

    2. Press Enter to display on-screen instructions for the specific screen you are viewing.

    Configuring a Linked Zone

Linked zones automatically inherit the watering behavior of a primary zone, which is useful when multiple zones have similar watering requirements.

    1. Press Plus or Minus to select the next zone you want to configure (for example, zone 2 in program 1).

    2. In the Zone Mode box, press Plus or Minus to change the mode from Timed to Linked.

    3. The system will prompt you to select which zone to link to (for example, zone 1).

Once the zone is set to linked mode, the following settings are automatically copied from the primary zone:

    • Zone water time (run time)
    • Cycle time
    • Soak time

This automatic inheritance of settings simplifies configuration when you have multiple zones with similar watering characteristics.
