Backing Up Your Controller to a USB Drive

    1. Ensure all controller programming changes are complete and program is stable.

    2. Prior to any firmware update, backup your program data. The system backup will allow you to restore to the previous programming if anything goes wrong. You will be able to restore the BaseStation or Substations previous configuration

    • Note: Use a standard USB drive for these functions. A multi-function USB memory device, such as an MP3 player, is not compatible with these functions.

    1. Turn the dial to the Advanced position.

    2. Plug a USB drive into the USB port on the faceplate of the controller. CAUTION! To avoid damaging the connector pins, gently push the drive into the port.

    3. Press the Next button to move to the Data Management option, and then press the Enter button. The Data Mgmt screen displays.

    4. In the Backup to USB field, the Write option is highlighted. Press the Enter button. The controller writes a copy of the current programming to the USB drive. The data is saved in a folder that is the same as the serial number of the controller (such as 3K0001). The file is named Backup2_yyyMMdd.zip. The controller can write up to 10 backup files, each from a different date. Note: The controller does not notify you when the backup is complete. Leave the USB drive in the port for at least a minute before proceeding to step 5.

    5. Unplug the USB drive from the port, and then turn the dial back to the RUN position. Note: You can leave the backup data on the USB drive until you need it for a restore. However, if you need the USB drive for another purpose, you can also copy the data to a computer. Just make sure that you maintain the same folder structure, folder names, and file names, so you can copy it back to the USB drive if you need to use it to restore your data

    Note

The following procedure assumes that your computer is running Microsoft Windows.
